Details: 2nd July 1944 Age 24 Son of Harry F Ainsworth and Lillian Ainsworth of Toronto Ontario Canada54Â CÂ 3 Corporal Jack Ainsworth had the misfortune of dieing in England from coal gas poisoning on July 2, 1944 – five days before the Royal Regiment of Canada joined the Normandy Invasion and the ensuing battles for North-West Europe. He was survived by his mother, two sisters and a brother (Stewart) who was fighting with the 48th Highlanders in Italy. Source: The Toronto Star
